PROJECTS

CVD-Mali’s work

Malian leadership on the world stage

Driving CVD-Mali’s mission to combine rigorous science with equity, partnership, and local capacity building is Director-General, Professor Samba Ousmane Sow.

In Mali: As Minister of Health, Professor Sow expanded community-based healthcare, and instigated ground-breaking health reforms.

In Africa: A leader in regional collaborations to reduce child mortality and strengthen maternal health systems.

Globally: A former WHO Special Envoy for COVID-19 and member of numerous international advisory bodies, Professor Sow works to put Africa’s voice front and center in global health decision-making.

Collaboration and community – these are the motors of change. Even with basic tools, we can make a world of difference: save lives, strengthen health systems and ensure that no child is left behind.
